Gemstones

Ways of recommendation to wear an Astro Gemstone.

Well, people often wonder or ask the question which stone is suitable for me?

Well there are quite a few ways for recommending an Astro gemstone but one should know which is the most effective, personal & accurate one.

1.     People do recommend & wear gemstones as per zodiac signs, sun sign moon sign & numerology, well these sciences for recommending a gemstone are not precisely accurate & specific, just to apply your logic; there are so many people with the same sign & same number but all of them with similar star signs do not have the same identical problems. This way to recommend gemstone is not specific
for eg1.There would be millions of people who would be Taurians or any other sign but all of them do not face the same problems nor do they have the same amount of success.
eg 2.There would millions of people whose date of birth would be totaling to the same number but their problems, success, life pattern are not the same. So imply by wearing a zodiac stone it is not necessary that all your problems & purpose for which you want to wear an Astro gemstone would be sorted.

2.     Another way to recommend an Astro gemstone is by their properties, there specific gemstones for specific problems, eg. They say emerald is worn for the mind, for cough & cold & so on…so, gem therapist recommends a stone as per the problems faced by the person. However there some additional effects too that the wearer would have to face which may not be beneficial for him as per astrology.

3.     The best way of recommending & wearing an Astro gemstone would be on the basis of astrology, as per your date, time & place of birth we get to know that current planetary positions & planetary positions at the time of your birth, this gives the entire story of your life, the purpose for which you need to wear a gemstone could be related to the planet that is causing them problem which helps the astrologer to recommend you a gemstone. It is the planets after all that are causing the difference between every living being on earth & your birth chart is only yours & not shared by anyone else, hence your problems & success is yours & hence the solution to your problems too have to be specific which is as per astrology.

So, please do go for an astrological consultation for a gemstone rather than wearing it any other way.

We at Rudrablessings give you a free Astro Gemstone - Rudraksha recommendations irrespective of you buy an astro gemstone or Rudraksha from us or not. Please feel free to go for this consultation.

Why are Specific Astro Gemstone Rings worn on Specific Fingers?

As per astrology there are two groups of planets
Group 1: Comprises of Planets Jupiter, Mars, Sun, Moon these planets are friendly to each other & do not cause harm amongst themselves.
Group 2: Comprises of planets Saturn, Venus, Mercury, these planets are friendly to each other & do not cause harm amongst themselves;
Neutral: Rahu, Ketu; they are malefic planets have individual friends & enemies.

So now as per above groups one should not wear 2 gemstones of 2 different enemy groups together on the same finger.

Further as per palmistry each & every finger represents a planet & has a mount towards the palm at the end of the finger.

1.     Mount on the first or forefinger belongs to Jupiter hence one wears Yellow sapphire / pukhraaj / pushkaraaj / topaz / citrine on it in gold & Jupiter / Guru rules the day Thursday;  in Hindi its known as guruvaar hence once should start wearing a yellow sapphire on its 1st finger on gold on Thursday before sunrise as during that time the ruling planet is Planet Jupiter. Similarly;

2.     2nd / Left Middle finger is ruled by SATURN - SHANI, hence Blue Sapphire, Lapis, and Amethyst is worn here.

3.     Left Ring finger is ruled by SUN - SURYA, hence Ruby, Coral (Mars is friendly with Sun) is worn here.  Coral may be worn on right ring finger also.

4.     Right Little finger is ruled by Mercury - BUDH, hence Emerald is worn here.

5.     Now the Question of VENUS - SHUKRA, the THUMB is ruled by Venus. But we do not wear anything on the thumb, so we have to wear a DIAMOND, ZIRCON, WHITE SAPPHIRE on the finger ruled by the friends of VENUS, which are SATURN & MERCURY, i.e. Middle Finger or Little Finger of right hand.

6.     RAHU / NORTH NODE is considered to be controlled by Saturn / Shani hence we wear Hessonite Garnet / Gomedh on the middle finger.

7.     KETU / SOUTH NODE – Chrysoberyl cat’s eye is to be worn on ring finger.

This is the reason stones are worn on specific finger, in specific metals on specific day at specific times.

Further one can wear the gemstones of friendly planets in the same finger but not of enemy planets.

Wearing Gemstones with right methodology provides tremendous benefits.

Beware Of Synthetic Gemstones

After willing to spend a good amount on purchase of an Astro gemstone the last thing you would want is that it should be a synthetic one.
A high quality gemstone will fetch a high value hence out of greed quite a lot of individuals tend to cheat us by selling a synthetic gemstone claiming it to be the real natural one. This is because most of the times the person buying the stone is a layman & doesn’t have adequate knowledge on the same….

There are a couple of ways you could have an idea about this.

1. The price of the stone increases with its transparency & as its color gets deeper & better. So if you see a person offering a gemstone with very deep & beautiful color with very high transparency for a very less price then you can think there could be something wrong.

2. You could visit a few merchants & get an idea of the price going on in the market.

3. you could always ask for an official lab certificate for the gemstone, quite a few vendors are issuing certificates on their own company’s name & not from a laboratory such certificates do not hold an value & guarantee. This is very common for Rudraksha & gemstones.

4. Avoid buying from typical astrologers & jewelers; they are not an expert for the same; they are good with ornaments & making of the gemstones in rings & pendants. You could always from reputed gemstone merchants & gemologists.

5. We at Rudrablessings do issue a laboratory certificate if demanded by client from a reputed gem testing lab, also our CEO Mr. Rohan Advani is an official Gemologist from Mumbai university approved institute & a highly reputed gem therapist. Every gem coming in goes through his eye & further tested by laboratories. We also have our links directly with mine holders in the source country, so there no middlemen that we need to depend on. We insist our clients on buying non treated high quality gemstones. This assures you our authenticity & and assurance of high quality product at the lowest possible price.

Donation of Astro Gemstones to appease Planets

There is an understanding & adopted rule known as “Anikul & Pratikul” where in one should wear a gemstone for the positive planets & donate gemstones to appease negative planets with a few exceptions. So if an individual wishes to reduce the negative effects of its planets he could adopt the method of donation of specific gemstones, this could provide him quite a bit of relief.

If any of your below planets are negative you could donate its specific gemstones as mentioned below to any individual who needs it the most & could lead a better life with it. One could also donate it to trust worthy astrologers or temple asking them to donate it to the right people. While donating the stone you could chant the specific mantra of the planet & pray for your well being. However it is not necessary because the action (deed) itself is big enough.

1. Planet Sun / Surya – Ruby / Manek
2. Planet Moon / Chandra – Pearl / Moti
3. Planet Saturn / Shani – Blue Sapphire / Neelam
4. Planet Jupiter / Guru – Yellow sapphire / Pukhraaj
5. Planet Mars / Mangal – Red coral / Moonga
6. Planet Venus / Shukra – Diamond / Heera even if it is tiny)
7. Planet Mercury / Budh – Emerald / Panna
8. Rahu / North Node – Hessonite / Gomedh
9. Ketu / South Node – Cat’s eye / Lasuniya.

Gemstone Care & Maintenance

Gemstones are very beautiful creation of nature. We buy & collect the gemstones out of great love; attached to the gemstones are a good value, hope & sentiments hence it is very important to take good care of it.
Gemstones appear to be very hard externally & they are as well but they might not be equally strong from internally, technically there is a difference in the hardness & toughness of a stone, some stones are really hard but not tough & some stones may not b that hard but are pretty strong. Toughness relates to resistance against wear & tear & pressure. I stone may not be strong from within because technically it’s internally molecules may naturally not be strongly held to each other.
Further now days’ mining takes place with the help of blasting due to which the gemstones internally get weaker after the impact of the blasts. So now we know that a hard looking stone may not be that strong & needs to be given good care for it to last longer & longer.

For e.g.
1.     Emerald stands as the 4th strongest stone on the scale of hardness but internally is weak & brittle just with a drop it could break into 2 or more pieces.
2.     Organic stones Like Pearls, Corals, Turquoise, Amber etc shouldn’t be bought into contact with any kind of acids or chemicals this may force them towards erosion & damage.

Here are some tips to maintain your precious gemstone
1.     Often we see after setting the stone into a pendant or a ring with regular usage there is accumulation of grimes, dirt & soap more at the back of the stone, in such a case you could apply some tooth paste & clean of the dirt, soap & grime accumulated behind, after which just take some olive oil on a brush & apply it at the back of your stone, this will make it clean & strong again.
2.     There are natural microscopic pores in gemstones & we have apply oil to them they tend to absorb it & get stronger with time. Oil is good for the life of Gemstones.
3.     Avoid keep changing your pendant & ring designs regularly as this may not be good for some gemstones especially emeralds & organic stones. It takes some pressure to set stones in ring or pendant, the excess pressure might damage the gemstones, and also polishing of the ring might cause some damage to the organic gemstones.
4.     Try choosing designs with closed setting this will have your gemstone covered with metal on all sides unlike prong setting or any other type of setting & hence your stone shall be more safe & protected against loss & will be safer for daily use.
5.     Be careful & avoid it from falling or colliding against walls or anything else tough enough.
6.     Try buying gemstones with more clarity.

Just for your curiosity & knowledge below is table that shows the hardness of different gemstones. Enjoy!!!

For how long does an Astro gemstone give its effects?

There are lot misconceptions & superstitions spread regarding;
“For how long does a gemstone work?

A Lot out of these funny astrologers keep saying that a gemstone gets ineffective after a certain period of time, most commonly they say either 1 or 3 years..
Let me tell you the reason behind it
1.     The astrologer himself may be honest but not a learned enough; he too has learnt this soc called rule from incompetent astrologer.

2.     Astrologers may try to fool you so that you can go back to them to buy another Astro gem after the prescribed period for the effects is over as this will keep their sales going.

3.     Some people have also started saying that there are machines that can detect the strength of a gemstone, I would like to bring this to the notice of my esteemed clients that the machine used to check this itself is not completely accurate & full proof, it is manually handled & depends on the way the operator handles it, performing this multiple times on the same stone or human may give you different results each time. The operator himself has to keep adjusting the way he handles the machine.

Until now there is no full proof test to check the working period of a gemstone, until someone can prove this without any question we would say that a gemstone is for ever, the more you energize it, they more it shall work.
Do not waste your precious money if there isn’t any logic behind it. Learn to question people…..

If you have any further queries or suggestions please feel free to write to us, we would be glad to assist you.

                          Effects of an Astro Gemstone

There is no instrument to measure the time period & percentage of effects of an Astro Gemstone.

The gift of the nature as the symbol of planets “Astro Gemstone” is considered as very auspicious & powerful instrument that can help a human to reduce or overcome several of his problems & help him lead a life full of happiness, harmony & prosperity. Astro Gemstone is known for its positive effects & it has been worn by our kings, ancestors, Vedic scholars, celebrities & people of various caste, creed & sex over centuries for their well being. Astro Gemstone is known for overcoming various obstacles in various spheres of life. In fact we believe one should be blessed with real good karmas to even wear the most common Astro Gemstone. Further, it is said that scientifically it has been proven that each & every Astro Gemstone due to its chemical composition like any other medicine has various benefic effects on human body; it is also considered to be the good conductor of cosmic energy from specific planets to human body.

Well, now one important question arising in every human’s mind before wearing Astro Gemstone is
Q: Does it really effect? & how much time an Astro Gemstone takes to effect?
Ans: Since this is a very important question the vendor usually tries to play here & convinces the client of guaranteed effects within specified time period with the feeling that if he does not mention this, the client may not buy the Astro Gemstones from him. However, this is not the case with us; our answer to this question of yours is below.

→ The percentage & the time period of effects are not mentioned in the Vedic texts. Please note restrictions are created, spread & written by private authors in their own books & are not a part of Vedic texts, further there is no instrument on this earth that could measure the percentage & time period of effects of Astro Gemstones, Rudraksha or any other cosmic product. It’s only the wearer’s personal experience that can not quantitatively but qualitatively describe the same. The percentage & time period varies from person to person. Kindly beware of traders who claim the time period & percentage of effects of an Astro Gemstone bead at the time of sale as this may just be a stunt to push sales. We in fact go to the extent saying that you may not buy from us but we shall not convince you by providing false information regarding percentage & time period of effects.
We believe you are spending money for one of natures most auspicious & rare piece of art. So in short you are paying for the Astro Gemstone, if there are any effects it comes along free. Astro Gemstone is our product but the effects are not. It’s like a gemstone trader or jeweler sells a gemstone but not its effect, he wouldn’t know how much a specific stone quantitatively is going to affect a specific client.

→ Incase there are any effects, the effects of a Astro Gemstone depends on its color, transparency & size, all we could help you with is by suggesting you to buy a right gemstone of good color & transparency

→ Most of the times one gets an original Astro Gemstone but the color is either too less or treated & transparency is very poor. This damage the physical properties of the Astro Gemstone & it would not be that vastly effective.

→ The percentage & time may not be defined but it is believed that everything produced by nature has a purpose & duty, there are lot of problems an individual may go through and its solution itself is provided by nature in forms of Astro gemstones, Rudraksha, yantra, prayers, karmas & so on. All you need to do is consult the right gem therapist & buy it from a right gemstone merchant.

→ People often take it for granted the jewelers are the right place to buy a gem or the astrologer himself will be the right guide, this is because of their background, however these are the worst places to buy a gemstone from because jewelers are good with ornaments & metals but not with stones, astrologer you have to depend blindly on, rather you should know how to buy a gemstone on your own. We shall explain how easy it is to buy a gemstone in our other section called “become an expert & buy your Astro gemstone yourself”

→ As per our seniors or society one needs to be very precautious after wearing a Astro Gemstone to gain any positive effects out of it; this is nothing but being superstitious. You will be surprised to know that there are no restrictions mentioned in Vedic texts. One does not need to follow any precautions or be superstitious for it to work, one just needs to wear it with utmost faith, dedication, respect, care & love. To know more about the Astro Gemstone & its superstitious restrictions visit Do’s & Don’ts.

The only thing that should be believed is that Astro Gemstone should be worn after energization & with regular mantra chanting the effects or power of the Astro Gemstone bead may increase.

Anything produced by the almighty has a purpose & utility; nothing on the earth produced by him is useless, in fact its up to us to make proper utility of it, one needs to be blessed with real good karmas to even wear or know about the most common Astro Gemstone, clients believe that they are paying for they effects but we believe you are paying for a rare natural divine Astro Gemstone & the effects if any come free with it.
We believe in complete transparency, buying or not buying is always at the sole discretion of the buyer.

Please feel free to contact us about any of your doubts, superstitions, information or suggestions, we would be glad to assist you.

Energizing Procedure of Astro Gemstones

Note: Astro Gemstone is an auspicious gift of nature & we believe one should energize the same before using it for the 1st time to gain maximum benefits. The energizing procedure is very simple & one need not depend or trust anyone blindly to perform this act. There are many vendors who claim to energize the Astro gemstones before dispatching which may actually haven’t been done….moreover you are wearing Astro gemstones for your benefit so it would be great if you do not depend on anyone & take the extra effort to perform this auspicious & simple ritual on your own.

Thereafter, the Astro gemstone thus becomes divine, and creates a layer of divine amour around its worshipper and bestows prosperity. Further, if possible kindly donate specific items related to the planet as per your desire to a needy person.

If you would like to enhance the effects of the different Astro gemstone then the specific mantras for each of the Astro gemstone could be repeated as often as you choose at any time of the day & wherever comfortable to you. Kindly visit any Lord Shiva temple or a Navgraha temple on the specified day of wearing the gemstone, offer the priest whatever dakshina (donation) you wish to offer & request him to perform the pran pratishtha (energizing) for you. He shall ask for your name, then shall start energizing the Astro gemstone by offering milk, water, flowers, incense (kindly carry the required pooja items with you) & bless it with mantras in your name. With the completion of this procedure the blessings & permission of Navgraha & lord Sun has been taken, kindly take the Astro gemstones in your hand, thank the lord for giving you the opportunity to wear a Astro gemstone, show it to lord Sun, offer prayers for your well being, chant the mantra “Om Namaha Shivaye” & the “specific planet mantra” 9 times & where it. If possible donate some specific food item of the planet for which you wearing the gemstone or any other form of help to the needy as per your desire. Or whenever in the future donate the similar lower quality gemstone to someone who can’t afford it but needs it.

Kindly note: there are many people in the world who could afford to wear the most expensive Astro gemstones but since they are not lucky enough they do not even know about Astro gemstones, here we are simply trying to say that one just cannot wear Astro gemstones by their own will and desire one really needs to be extremely blessed & for the same you need to thank God.

How to Check The Quality Of Astro Gemstones?

→ Incase there are any effects, then the effects of a transparent Astro Gemstone depends on its color, transparency & size. Deeper the color more rays it could attract from the planet & with more the transparency easily it would pass in your body. → Most of the times one gets an original Astro Gemstone but the color is either too less or treated & transparency is very poor. Incase the color is less or treated its potential to attract rays reduces & at the same time more the color with no transparency does attract rays but doesn’t pass it into your body. So one should ensure that the gemstone has a bit of all in it if not more.

All we could do is helping you understand how to know which stone is of a good quality.

→ Well there are a few categories of stones like the
1.     The non treated ones (precious) – No treatments have been performed on the stone, its color & internal structure is all natural
2.     The treated ones (precious) – the stones are original & natural but certain characteristics are enhanced by processes & treatments, like its color & transparency may have been enhanced.
3.     Substitutes (semi precious) – they are again naturally produced by nature but are substitutes to the precious stones & a cheaper option.
4.     Synthetics & fakes – made in laboratories.

→ Now for eg if you have to buy a yellow sapphire, you should ask the merchant whether the ones he is showing you are treated ones or non treated, if you have willingness to spend for a good stone then you should always emphasize on showing you non treated stones.
If there is a slight budget constrain then a treated stone would do but it should be to your knowledge rather than wearing a substitute or synthetic.

The color is pretty much visible to your naked eye; the transparency could be seen by holding the stone against any form of light.

→ Taking a step ahead, the basic rule for a gemstone is
Deeper & better the color, more the transparency & more the size higher is the price. So once you out to buy a gem see how deep, dark & nice the color is along with its transparency, however it will cost you a very high price. The ones with good color but no transparency fetches a lower price.

→ We at Rudrablessings give gemstones by specifying its quality which you could check the above way, we also provide you a certificate from a official gem testing lab if you ask for it, further if you physically buy it from us we give you a return period of 1 week without deducting any money on return but the only condition is that the gem should be in the same condition as given during delivery & without mounting it into a pendant or a ring.
Even a day after the 1 week trial shall not be considered for accepting the returns.

The right to decide whether it is in the same condition lies with us & shall entertain no arguments

Further if you wish to ask us any specific questions regarding the quality of the gemstone you choose to buy please feel free to do so.

Learn to buy your gemstone yourself – Be an Expert

Well now, since wearing of an astro gemstone is more related to faith & fear one always has the doubt about what he is wearing or buying.
Reading & understanding this page below will give you great base to understand how to buy an astro gemstone.

→ After consulting a right gem therapist or astrologer one would know what gemstone they are suppose to wear, the question that arises after that is from where to buy the gemstone, what is the quality, what is the price, what are the types & so on, before understanding how to understand the quality of gemstone one should know from where to buy?

Astrologers & so called guruji’s you have to depend blindly on them because just incase they put a specific requirement you will be like from where do I find us from & instead you would request the astrologer or guruji to get it for you, some of them are honest to say that they do not sell them because they have less knowledge on the other hand some sell them so that they can get the cream of money besides their consultation charges & trust they are just like a normal layman not knowing much about gemstones.                 Trying an Astro Gemstone before wearing it

Wearing an Astro gemstone is has usually been a process of fear & hope for most of the people. People usually think that there may be a negative effect associated with the same & for which they usually want to try the desired gemstone before wearing it permanently. This is nothing but a psychological process. No gemstone starts giving effects before they are energized & worn with right methodology. Gemstones have an aura which merges with wearer’s aura & creates either a peaceful or restless environment during the trial period that’s it. However people tend to associate the good or bad occurrences during the trial period with the gemstone; this is nothing but co incidence.

Trying a gemstone before wearing it will only give peace or restlessness & nothing else; this might help you to decide if the gemstone suits you or no. Sometimes what also happens is that the wearing a new gemstone means wearing something extra on you which wasn’t a part of you before, so obviously there will be some kind of change & time would be required to adjust to it. It wouldn’t mean that it is not suiting you. So be a little patient & mentally don’t start relating every bit to it.

Further most of the astrologers are doing nothing but playing with faith, I have come across several of them who do not have a piece of sense but are guiding various people & people tend to follow them as well. Many people come to us to buy gemstones recommended by other astrologers & they do not know for what purpose they have been recommended for. The other common question clients tend to ask is which gemstone will suit me, this question doesn’t make sense; the question should be what gemstone will suit me for this particular reason, the purpose to wear should be important. There are 12 different planets which are controlling different areas of your life; unless you mention the purpose & requirement one cannot look into which stone for the specific reason is going to suit you. Im sayin this only because you should know what to expect from it.

So bottom line is follow the guidance of a reputed gem therapist & wear fine quality stones without any superstitions & you certainly should be doing fine. Break the shackles of blind faith & superstitions.

How to Wear a Gemstone

Gemstones are good carriers of cosmic energy & can provide tremendous benefits & prosperity to its wearer but only if its is worn rightly, only on wearing it rightly they provide their cosmic benefits otherwise they are just cosmetic & for beauty purpose

Step 1 : Choosing the right gemstone
Well, undoubtedly this is the most important step, if you are not wearing the right gemstone, then it really doesn’t matter if you wearing it rightly or wrongly it is not at all going to beneficial for you further in anticipation you are always expecting miracles from it & in return if nothing happens you tend to say astrology is nonsense & gemstones do not work. Well everything produced by nature has a purpose & characteristic, problems faced by a human are within the nature itself & hence the solutions also are provided to us by nature itself in form of Gemstones, Rudraksha beads, natural cosmic products, donations, prayers, faith & so on. In India everything is associated to faith but its not that things actually do work, we tend to blindly go behind science just because it is proven however since hasn’t proved everything since day 1, it has taken time & over a period of time things have been approved by science, 1000 years back no one thought that there would be an instrument which would allow to people sitting 7 seas away from each other to communicate, when graham bell expressed his imagination people said he s mad, bu the day it was proved everyone simply accepted it, so things related to so called faith today are still to be approved by science but it doesn’t mean they do not work. There are facts without proofs & are called “Postulates”.

To know your right gemstone please do consult a person possessing reasonable knowledge on this subject. Choosing the right stone includes wearing a stone of a reasonably good quality & good size without any treatments.

Why are Specific Astro Gemstone Rings worn on Specific Fingers?

As per astrology there are two groups of planets
Group 1: Comprises of Planets Jupiter, Mars, Sun, Moon these planets are friendly to each other & do not cause harm amongst themselves.
Group 2: Comprises of planets Saturn, Venus, Mercury, these planets are friendly to each other & do not cause harm amongst themselves;

1.     Mount on the first or forefinger belongs to Jupiter hence one wears Yellow sapphire / pukhraaj / pushkaraaj / topaz / citrine on it in gold & Jupiter / Guru rules the day Thursday;  in Hindi its known as guruvaar hence once should start wearing a yellow sapphire on its 1st finger on gold on Thursday before sunrise as during that time the ruling planet is Planet Jupiter. Similarly;

2.     2nd / Left Middle finger is ruled by SATURN - SHANI, hence Blue Sapphire, Lapis, and Amethyst is worn here.

If you have any further queries or suggestions please feel free to write to us, we would be glad to assist you.

Malas and Rosaries

                  Introduction to Malas/Rosaries.

What is a mala / rosary?

Since the dawn of time, man has used stone beads strung in a circle as
a powerful spiritual symbol. “Mala”, which means a ‘set of beads or
flowers strung together', it is also known as a “Rosary” or “Garland”. These beautiful malas are commonly made of 108+1 or 54+1 beads and are used in meditation to count repetitions of mantras, prayers or affirmations by rotating the beads between the thumb and fingers, this action is called as “Japa”. It is also worn on the body, inside clothing (should be avoided wearing outside), these sacred pieces will carry the positive healing qualities of the stones into your personal energy field. Performing Japa on a mala helps to increase ones focus, concentration, relief from stress, anxiety & so on….

Usage of a mala?
As mentioned above malas are used to chant mantras which are often repeated hundreds or even thousands of times, without usage of mala it is difficult to keep a count of the mantras chanted. Hence, the mala is used so that one can think about the meaning of the mantra as it is chanted rather than thinking about counting the repetitions. There is a methodology to be followed while performing japa….to know more visitlink how to perform japa
All our malas are strung on thread or metal and knotted between each bead of finest quality in traditional style by our skilled artisans. We hope you will appreciate the beauty and power of these sacred beads

What is Japa?

The Sanskrit word japa is derived from the root jap-meaning "to utter in a low voice, repeat internally, mutter".

“Japa” is a spiritual discipline involving the repetition of a mantra or name of God with or without counting devices such as malas / rosaries. The mantra or name may be spoken softly, enough for the practitioner to hear it, or it may be spoken purely within the recitor's mind. Japa may be performed whilst sitting in a meditation posture, while performing other activities, or as part of formal worship in a group
It is a practice used by aspirants of all religions all around the world as a powerful tool to control the mind & increase the positivity in & around them.

At the time of japa one repeats a mantra for a prescribed number of times such as 108 times or multiple of 108, so in order to keep account of the number of repetitions made one uses a mala consisting of specific number of beads. In order to count the number of rounds of japa done; grains of rice are used; the grains of rice are counted and put in a metal pot. Each time a mala is completed, one grain of rice is removed from the remaining number of grains.
Malas get charged with energy after they have been used for japa frequently. If one has done 125,000 repetitions of the mantra on a mala, it becomes charged with very high energy (siddh).

There is a methodology to perform japa; one should strictly follow the same in order to perform effective japa. To know more on the same visit How to perform Japa?

Purpose of Japa
The aim or goal of japa varies greatly depending on the mantra or intention involved and the religious philosophy of the practitioner. In both Buddhist and Hindu traditions mantras may be given to aspirants by their guru, after some form of initiation. The goal could be moksha, nirvana, bhakti, or simple personal communion with God in a similar way to prayer. People also practice japa for cleansing of their soul or to develop intuitive powers.

Performing japa gives the person lot of peace, calmness, stability & keep negative thoughts, stress, depression, fear, complexes at bay. They exercise their mind by doing prayers or japa, often with rosaries / malas.

One can use a mala of 27+1 beads or 54+1 beads or 108+1 beads specifically to perform japa, however one round of japa is completed only on chanting the mantra 108 times. To know more about the significance of specific number of beads in a rosary visit link significance of 108 beads.

How to perform Japa?
OR
How to Use a Mala for Japa?

→ Hold the rosary / mala right below your eyes in your right hand or the working hand (only one hand should be used)

→ There are 2 ways to hold the mala; hold the mala either between your thumb & middle finger or between the thumb & ring finger.

→ Please note that the index finger and the little finger or any other part of your body should not touch the beads in either case. The mala should be held just below your nose & shouldn’t go below your navel.

→ The rosary if held between the thumb & middle finger should be rotated by the thumb or if held between the thumb & ring finger should be rotated by the middle finger clockwise.

→ Mala would always have an extra bead (109th) hanging outside the row of beads, whose total number is usually 108. This 109th bead is called “Sumeru” or“Stupa” or the “Guru bead”.

→ The sumeru bead of the rosary should never be passed. It thus becomes a static point in these malas as it marks the beginning & end of the rosary. If you notice the entire mala with the sumeru resembles the form of a shivalingam with a jalhari.

→ The aspirant should start the mala at the first bead next to sumeru and should end on the last bead before sumeru.

→ As you keep rotating the bead chant your respective mantra, so on completion of the mala the number of times the mantra chanted would be equal to the number of beads in the rosary.

→ For Japa purpose a sumeru bead is very necessary but for wearing a mala a sumeru bead is optional.

→ If the aspirant has to do the japa twice (or more), he should turn the rosary and make the last bead become the first bead for starting the second round, the same thing should be followed if one would wants to perform multiple rounds.

→ To keep a count on number of rounds of japa performed one should keep a few rice grains or any other beads, as soon as one round of japa is completed one rice grain should be kept aside & keep following the same. At the end the number of rice grains kept aside would be equal to the rounds of japa performed

→ Mathematically the formula is as such
  1.  1 Number of rounds of japa performed = number of rice grains kept aside after completion of each round.
  2.  2 Number of mantras chanted = to the number of beads in the mala x number of rice grains kept aside on completion.

→ There are special bags designed to carry a rosary, to maintain the sanctity of the rosary one should carry it & perform the japa holding it in the mala bag itself.

→ On completion of the japa one should touch the mala on their eyes, give it the due respect & keep it in a safe & clean place preferably at your altar (puja sthan),

→ Being sacred kindly maintain the sanctity of the mala….to know more kindly visit Care & Maintenance of Malas

→ One mala shouldn’t be used for two purposes that is wearing + for japa purposes. One should maintain separate malas for respective purpose.

Significane of 108 beads in a mala.
Or
Why are there 108 beads in mala?

Below are some of the many reasons that have been given, as well as a few other points of interest. None of these reasons are being promoted here as more or less true than the others. However, you may notice that 108 appears to be somewhat like a road map of reality in general, and the human in particular.
Regardless of the meaning of 108, it is important that if a mala is used to count mantras, the mantra be remembered with sincerity, devotion, feeling, and full attention.
9 times 12: Both of these numbers have been said to have spiritual significance in many traditions. 9 times 12 is 108. Also, 1 plus 8 equals 9. That 9 times 12 equals 108.
Powers of 1, 2, and 3 in math: 1 to 1st power=1; 2 to 2nd power=4 (2x2); 3 to 3rd power=27 (3x3x3). 1x4x27=108
Desires: There are said to be 108 earthly desires in mortals.
Lies: There are said to be 108 lies that humans tell.
Delusions: There are said to be 108 human delusions or forms of ignorance.
Heart Chakra: The chakras are the intersections of energy lines, and there are said to be a total of 108 energy lines converging to form the heart chakra. One of them, sushumna leads to the crown chakra, and is said to be the path to Self-realization.
Sanskrit alphabet: There are 54 letters in the Sanskrit alphabet. Each has masculine and feminine, shiva and shakti. 54 times 2 is 108.
Pranayama: If one is able to be so calm in meditation as to have only 108 breaths in a day, enlightenment will come.
Upanishads: Some say there are 108 Upanishads, texts of the wisdom of the ancient sages.
Sri Yantra: On the Sri Yantra there are marmas where three lines intersect, and there are 54 such intersections. Each intersections has masculine and feminine, shiva and shakti qualities. 54 times 2 equals 108. Thus, there are 108 points that define the Sri Yantra as well as the human body.
Pentagon: The angle formed by two adjacent lines in a pentagon equals 108 degrees.
Marmas: Marmas or marmasthanas are like energy intersections called chakras, except have fewer energy lines converging to form them. There are said to be 108 marmas in the subtle body.
Time: Some say there are 108 feelings, with 36 related to the past, 36 related to the present, and 36 related to the future.
8 extra beads: In doing a practice of counting the number of repetitions of the mala, 100 are counted as completed. The remaining are said to cover errors or omissions. The 8 are also said to be an offering to God and Guru.
Chemistry: Interestingly, there are about 115 elements known on the periodic table of the elements. Most of those, around or higher than the number 100 only exist in the laboratory, and some for only thousandths of a second. The number that naturally exist on Earth is around 100.
Astrology: There are 12 constellations, and 9 arc segments called namshas or chandrakalas. 9 times 12 equals 108. Chandra is moon, and kalas are the divisions within a whole.

Goddess names: There are said to be 108 Indian goddess names.
Gopis of Krishna: In the Krishna tradition, there were said to be 108 gopis or maid servants of Krishna.
1, 0, and 8: Some say that 1 stands for God or higher Truth, 0 stands for emptiness or completeness in spiritual practice, and 8 stands for infinity or eternity.
Sun and Earth: The diameter of the Sun is 108 times the diameter of the Earth. The distance from the Sun to the Earth is 108 times the diameter of the Sun.
Moon and Earth: The average distance of the Moon from the Earth is 108 times the diameter of the Moon.
Silver and the moon: In astrology, the metal silver is said to represent the moon. The atomic weight of silver is 108.
Numerical scale: The 1 of 108, and the 8 of 108, when added together equals 9, which is the number of the numerical scale, i.e. 1, 2, 3 ... 10, etc., where 0 is not a number.
Meditations: Some say there are 108 styles of meditation.
Breath: Tantra estimates the average number of breaths per day at 21,600, of which 10,800 are solar energy, and 10,800 are lunar energy. Multiplying 108 by 100 is 10,800. Multiplying 2 x 10,800 equals 21,600.
Paths to God: Some suggest that there are 108 paths to God.
Smaller divisions: The number 108 is divided, such as in half, third, quarter, or twelfth, so that some malas have 54, 36, 27, or 9 beads.
Hinduism: 108 is said to refer to the number of Hindu deities. Some say that each of the deities has 108 names.
Islam: The number 108 is used in Islam to refer to God.

Buddhism: Some Buddhists carve 108 small Buddhas on a walnut for good luck. Some ring a bell 108 times to celebrate a new year.
Chinese: The Chinese Buddhists and Taoists use a 108 bead mala, which is called su-chu, and has three dividing beads, so the mala is divided into three parts of 36 each.
Stages of the soul: Said that Atman, the human soul or center goes through 108 stages on the journey.
Meru: This is a larger bead, not part of the 108. It is not tied in the sequence of the other beads. It is the quiding bead, the one that marks the beginning and end of the mala.
Dance: There are 108 forms of dance in the Indian traditions.
Praiseworthy souls: There are 108 qualities of praiseworthy souls.

Sumeru Bead

A mala / rosary would always have an extra bead (109th) as the extension to the row of beads, whose total number is usually 108. This 109th bead is called“Sumeru” or “Meru” or “Stupa” or the “Guru bead”.

The sumeru bead of the rosary should never be passed while performing japa. It thus becomes a static point in these malas as it marks the beginning & end of the rosary. If you notice the entire mala with the sumeru resembles the form of a shivalingam with a jalhari.

The aspirant should start the mala at the first bead next to sumeru and should end on the last bead before sumeru.

For Japa purpose a sumeru bead is very necessary but for wearing a mala a sumeru bead is optional.

If the aspirant has to do the japa twice (or more), he should turn the rosary and make the last bead become the first bead for starting the second round, again take care one should not cross the sumeru bead.

Thus, without a sumeru performing effective & disciplined japa is not possible as you wouldn’t know where exactly had you started & where do you have to stop, in other words you wouldn’t know how many times the mantra has been chanted.

Care & Maintenance of Rudraksha Mala / Rosary

A mala / rosary appears to be very strong externally & can be passed on from generation to generation only if maintained properly. One should also keep in mind that it is a natural product so is subject to wear & tear if not handled & taken care off properly. One should avoid manhandling like throwing the bead / mala or playing with it as its contours might chip off or the bead might crack. Here are a few tips that would help to maintain your bead rosary.

Ø Clean your mala / beads when you feel they require cleaning after regular usage.
Ø Dip the beads in luke warm water & soak it for around half hour to 45 minutes.
Ø Delicately use a plastic / fibre bristle brush to clean the dirt and grime that fixes in the pores of the beads.
Ø Place the mala on a cloth or newspaper to absorb the excess water & expose it to Sun for quick drying. Allow it to dry for 1 to 2 days. Meanwhile keep feeling the beads & you would get to know if they have dried up completely.
Ø When the beads turn completely dry one can start using the mala. If the beads remain wet there could be a chance of white moss getting accumulated on it, to avoid that we ask you to dry the beads.
Ø You could also do is not wash the beads & rather directly oil it. To oil the beads take a fresh brush; take some olive oil, dip the brush in the oil & apply it to the Rudraksha beads as if you are painting, oil them to dry a little so that on wearing your clothes are not soiled.
Ø The Rudraksha mala of Indonesian origin doesn’t require regular oiling, once in 4 months after the beads are completely dry would be enough.
Ø If the mala is worn during bath, it is recommended to keep it away from soap, as excess soap, powder, perfumes spoils or might reduce the life of any natural product by drying its natural oil and penetrating or sticking to it. Water is good for the beads. If it is not worn during bath, the mala may be washed in normal clean water once in 2 months as mentioned above.

Important Tips

Ø One should not interchange their Rudraksha mala with anyone; one can pass it on as wishes or blessings to their near & dear ones but should not interchange regularly.
Ø Malas / rosaries can be strung in any metal, be it gold / silver / copper / panchdhatu or thread.
Ø One can wear any combination of Rudraksha beads as it does not have any negative effects on its wearer or possessor.
Ø One can wear the mala of 25, 54, 108 or any other configuration of beads with different mukhis as per their need/requirement.
Ø Anyone can wear a Rudraksha, without any discrimination of sex, caste or creed.
Ø Rudraksha can be kept in house, office, factory, or any place of work or pooja Room to get positive energy flow in the same premises.
Ø Rudraksha should be energized in any Shiva temple by performing ‘Abhishek’’ (on any day) before using it for the first time & it is said that it should be worn preferably on a Monday (since it is Lord Shiva’s day) for the first time & then continue wearing it. (For best effects of Rudraksha, energizing is necessary). To know about how to energize your Rudraksha visit link Energizing of Rudraksha.
Ø Rudraksha mantra should be chanted regularly for quick & excellent effects.
Ø Never loose faith in Rudraksha, it is said that it positively gives effects. However, nobody can precisely say when & how much will it effect. The percentage & time of effects is not defined. Beware of traders who claim the time period & percentage of effects of a Rudraksha bead at the time of selling. To know more on this view Effects of Rudraksha.

Ø Over & above this feel free to contact us regarding any doubts or information on the Rudraksha bead, it would be great to be of any help to you.

Mythological Importance
Parad is nothing but the form of fluid metal called as “mercury” which is further solidified by mixing with other metals. As per ayurved or other Vedic text parad is considered to be the semen of the great lord Shiva. It is considered to have divine powers & benefits. Famously it is also known as rasa as it is the powers to dissolve all other metals like gold, silver & so on in itself. Hence one should avoid keeping any metal in contact with parad. “Parad” in any form in the house is a source of positive energy. It is used extensively in ayurvedic medicines to help people overcome various problems & disorders. As per vedic scriptures parad when worshipped in a idol form with help of various rituals can help people gain prosperity in various spheres of life. Parad can be given the form of any idol but the most worshipped & powerful is considered to be the Parad Shivalingam.

Natural Occurrence
Mercury is a naturally occurring element that is found in air, water and soil. It exists in several forms: elemental or metallic mercury, inorganic mercury compounds, and organic mercury compounds.

Mercury is an element in the earth's crust. Humans cannot create or destroy mercury. Pure mercury is a liquid metal, sometimes referred to as quicksilver that volatizes readily. It has traditionally been used to make products like thermometers, switches, and some light bulbs.

Mercury and its compounds have been used in medicine, although they are much less common today than they once were, now that the toxic effects of mercury and its compounds are more widely understood.

Rudraksha

Are you wearing Rudraksha for the first time?

Step1. What is a Rudraksha?
------------------------------
Well, we believe that one needs to know what Rudrakshas are before they start wearing it. Rudrakshas are natural beads (fruit) grown on trees & are considered to be very auspicious & divine as they are believed to be evolved out of the eyes of Lord Shiva “Rudra” (Shiva) & “Aksha” (eyes)” . A gift of the great Lord Shiva to mankind. Rudrakshas are evolved by Lord Shiva to help human beings overcome various problems of life. Step2. Which Rudraksha to wear?
-------------------------------
After knowing what Rudrakshas are, you would like to know which Rudraksha or Rudraksha combination would be most suitable for you.
As per our ancient Vedic texts like Siva purana, Srimadbhagvatam each Rudraksha is a representation of a Lord & has a respective significance, importance & effect. One needs to select the Rudraksha as per their problems or requirements & not necessarily according to their planetary positions. The best part about Rudrakshas is that it can be worn in any number & any combination as they do not have any negative or reverse effects. Step3. Superstitions
--------------------
Before wearing a Rudraksha everyone is usually concerned about the necessary precautions to be taken while wearing it. One will be surprised that there are no precautions on wearing a Rudraksha mentioned in the Veda’s, they are all created & spread by humans…. to know more visitDo’s & Don’ts.

Step4. Energisation & Sanctification
-----------------------------------
After selecting the Rudrakshas & feeling free from restrictions the immediate thing that comes to a person’s mind is how to energize the Rudrakshas? Or is there any pooja to be performed before wearing it?
Once the Rudraksha combination is selected & before Rudraksha is worn on the body or kept in the pooja altar for prayers it needs to be sanctified and energized. This can be done by visiting any Shiva temple & asking the priest to perform the Rudra abhishek. However since one is wearing the Rudraksha for their own benefits it is best recommended to perform the rituals on your own. Many websites claim of energizing the Rudraksha beads before sending which actually is not done….so kindly take note & rather than trusting anyone please perform the simple energizing procedure on your own. To follow the simplest energization process as per the guidelines of the head priest of an old Shiva temple in Mumbai visit link Energization of Rudraksha.

90% Nepalese beads in the market are fake.
40-50% beads are fake in the market.

1)   Species: Rudrakshas from Nepal & Indonesia both belong to the “Elaeocarpus Granitrus Roxb.” Family as they both share the same internal structure though there might be slight differences on the external surface.

2)   Variety: Both Nepal & Indonesia produce Rudrakshas right from 2 mukhi to 21 mukhi, Gaurishanker, Ganesha, savar & trijudi Rudraksha. Rudrakshas like 1 mukhi & 22 mukhi to 38 mukhi are rarely produced. Whereas Rudraksha from India range from 1 mukhi to 7 mukhi. To check out the different varieties of Rudrakshas visit Multifaceted Rudrakshas.

3)   Mukhis / Facets: The mukhis / facets of Nepalese & Indian Rudrakshas are very well formed, defined & have deep groove cavities on the outer surface, whereas the facets of Indonesian Rudrakshas are just like thread lines slightly etched in the outer surface, hardly a few beads would have deep grooves.

4)   Shape: Rudrakshas from both Nepal & Indonesia share a common shape, 2 & 3 mukhi Rudrakshas from both the origins are elliptically round in shape whereas 5,6,7,8 are mostly round, 9 to 21 & above are oval with a concave top & bottom.

5)   Center hole: Rudrakshas from all the origins have a natural center hole; the center hole may not be very well defined from 3 mukhi to 7 mukhi in either origins. The center hole is absent in Indian Rudrakshas, they have to be drilled by hand. Usually the center hole is covered with the pulp (outer coating), which at times just requires to be hand cleaned before stringing.

6)   Body surface: The Nepalese & Indian Rudrakshas have obvious body protrusions where as Indonesian Rudrakshas are comparatively way smoother.

7)   Size: The Nepalese Rudrakshas are way bigger than the Indonesian Rudrakshas, the size range of Nepalese beads would be12 mm – 42mm approx & the average size of this origin would be 18mm approx., whereas the Indonesian beads are pretty smaller with the size range of 4mm to 30mm & with an average size of 12mm.

8)   Availability: Original Nepalese & Indonesian Rudrakshas are rare to find since lot of faking is going on, lower valued Rudrakshas are being converted into high value beads with the help of skilled artisans. Whereas the Indian Rudrakshas are commonly available. Faking of 1 mukhi half moon shaped from India has increased tremendously & a few well informed Indian 2 mukhis are sold as Nepalese origin at a higher price.

9)   Demand: The demand of higher faceted Nepalese Rudrakshas is more than its supply, whereas the demand & supply of Indonesian Rudrakshas are equal to each other. In terms of Indian Rudrakshas the supply is excess than its demand.

10) Quality: Rudraksha from Nepal are considered to be the best in terms of its formation & appearance followed by Indonesian Rudrakshas. Indian Rudrakshas are slightly lower in quality.

11) Effects: as we always mentionedthe effects of a Rudraksha berry do not depend on its shape, size, colour & origin. The one & only constraint is that the mukhis / facets of a Rudraksha should be well formed & genuine without any human manipulation. Since Rudrakshas from both the origins have a similar internal & facet structure, both of them can be equally effective, further one still hasn’t come up with an instrument that could measure the percentage of effects of a Rudraksha bead of different origins. We have solely been the pioneer company in promoting Indonesian Rudrakshas, the most known vendors & websites use to claim that Indonesian Rudrakshas are of no use, today they themselves are selling Indonesian Rudrakshas.

12) Price: Due to more demand & less supply plus with a great appearance & clear formation & due to lot of promotion Nepalese Rudrakshas by far are the most expensive, Indonesian Rudrakshas are still very cheap & would be the right time to buy them as with time Nepalese Rudrakshas would go out of the reach of common man & all the pressure shall come on Indonesian Rudrakshas which might hike the price of the same. To know how known vendors have increased the prices of Rudrakshas visit Rudraksha Price Hike.

13) Faking: Faking takes place in all kinds of Rudraksha beads of every origin except a few commonly produced ones, statistically every year 90% of Nepalese beads, 60% Indonesian & around 10% of expensive fake Indian Rudrakshas are dumped in the markets by unscrupulous traders. To know how & where faking takes place visit Types of Fake Rudraksha in Market.

Note:
Nothing on this planet is produced by the Lord without any purpose. Each & everything has a duty & a utility.
The effects of a Rudraksha berry do not depend on its shape, size, colour, origin. The one & only constraint is that the mukhis / facets of a Rudraksha should be well formed & genuine without any human manipulation.

Out of 100, 90 Nepalese beads are usually very clearly formed & 50% Indonesian beads are very well formed & defined., so traders dealing only Nepalese Rudraksha do claim that Nepalese Rudrakshas are more effective than Indonesian from commercial gain view as the turnover would be more in a Nepalese Rudraksha. Over & above this the Rudrakshas give out vibrations from their mukhis & not their origin. Above that there isn’t any instrument to measure the effects of a Rudraksha bead.
Moreover traders selling only Nepalese Rudraksha also sell Rudraksha malas & Rudraksha malas are not produced in Nepal they have to be from Indonesia this is because mala consists of bead sizes from 5mm to 10mm usually & such small sized Rudrakshas are not produced in Nepal. We are proud to say that we are solely the pioneer company promoting Indonesian Rudrakshas, the most known vendors & websites who claimed that Indonesian Rudrakshas are not effective have started selling Indonesian Rudrakshas today.

P.S.: People who purchase Rudrakshas from Nepal believe that they are of the Nepalese origin, this would be as good as saying that a person of any country visiting Nepal would become a Nepalese which can’t be true or wouldn’t make sense, similarly this is not always true because certain Rudrakshas are not produced in Nepal & have to be sourced from Indonesia or India.

So to conclude, very well formed Indonesian Rudraksha can be equally effective like a well formed Nepalese bead but it is definitely a little difficult to get clear Indonesian Rudrakshas. One needs to source it from a seller who holds good enough stock to serve one’s purpose. To know more about the effects of Rudraksha visit Effects of Rudraksha.

Do’s & Don’ts

Rudraksha beads can be worn all the time. As far as we are concerned we haven’t come across any ancient Vedic texts mentioning specifically the do's and don'ts on wearing Rudraksha beads, all do’s & don’ts are written & spread by man in the pretext of superstition & faith. There are many books mentioning about the do’s & don’ts on wearing Rudraksha beads however they have been written by private authors & are not a part of Vedic texts. The only thing that we could say is that Rudrakshas are extremely holy and one needs to maintain their sanctity by treating them with respect, care & love. All Rudrakshas are representations of different lords, & god seeks only love, respect, faith & care and not any specific restrictions.
We suggest you to regularly clean, oil them and chant mantras with them like one would offer their prayers to their lord rather than following specific restrictions. Keep the Rudraksha away from any kind of dirt & do not touch it with unclean & dirty hands nor keep at a dirty place out of respect. Take the mala/beads off in the nights & please keep in a pouch or a plate in your altar or in any clean or pure place leaving it undisturbed & again resume wearing them in the morning after bath. (Due to its thorny protrusions it might be a little uncomfortable wearing them while sleeping) Rest of the day there is no need to take off the mala.
To know about maintaining your Rudrakshas visit Rudraksha Care.

The do’s & don’ts are not created by the Lord but by the humans.

Being mentally & physically clean is more important than being hypocritically clean.

One should follow what they believe in or what their conscious says & not follow anyone blindly. Let us bring to your notice that there have been many vendors & known websites who have kept changing their own statements regularly as per the trend of their clients in regards to do’s & don’ts on wearing Rudrakshas and we are the only company who strictly ask our clients to follow their conscious or their own restrictions and do not fall into the trap of superstitions….kindly take a note!!!!

                                          Other Important Tips

Ø One should not interchange their Rudraksha bead / mala with anyone, one can pass it on as blessings or good luck to their near & dear ones but should not interchange regularly or take it back once given. This is because Rudraksha & its possessor get use to each other & there has been acceptances by both……So kindly do not disturb the same.
Ø Rudraksha can be worn in any metal, be it gold / silver / copper / panchdhatu or thread.
Ø One can wear a mala of 108 or 54 or even a special combination of Rudraksha beads as per their requirements of any origin as it does not have any negative effects on its wearer or possessor. They are simply the most natural representations of gods & goddesses & hence can’t have any reverse or negative effects on their children.
Ø Anyone can wear Rudraksha, without any discrimination of caste, creed or sex as we believe it’s produced by nature for the welfare of all.
Ø Rudraksha should be kept well cleaned and oiled, at least once in two months.
Ø Rudraksha can be kept in house, office, factory, or any place of work or Pooja room (altar) to get positive energy flow in the same premises but at the same time we would like to make it clear that we do not have any instrument to give you the measurement of positive energy flow so before buying kindly think twice as we wouldn’t like to get into marketing stunts by giving you false information or painting a rosy picture.
Ø Rudraksha should be energized in any Lord Siva temple or even at home by performing ‘Abhishek’’ (on any day) before using it for the first time & it is said that one should preferably start wearing it on a Monday (since it is Lord Shiva’s day) & then continue wearing it. (For better effects of Rudraksha, energizing is necessary). To know about how to energize your Rudraksha Visit Energization of Rudraksha
Ø Each & every Rudraksha has specific mantra which is called as beej mantra. Rudraksha mantra should be chanted regularly for better effects, incase one forgets the specific beej mantra then they can chant the universal mantra “Om Namah Shivaye”
Ø Never loose faith in Rudraksha, it is said that it positively gives effects. However, nobody can precisely say when & how much will it effect. The percentage & time of effects is not defined & at the same time there is instrument that could measure the same. Kindly, beware of traders who claim the time period & percentage of effects of a Rudraksha bead at the time of sale as this may be just a marketing stunt to push sales. Further just ask them if they could provide you with the name of the instrument that measures the effects of a Rudraksha & it would be great if anyone could share it with us too… To know more on this view Effects of Rudraksha.

Ø Over & above this feel free to contact us regarding any doubts, information or suggestions on the Rudraksha bead, we would be glad to gain information or be of any help to you.

The above article has been written by us very transparently with a view to provide clarity & help them not depend or fall prey to superstitions spread by other websites & traders, we are sure this will article shall be copied by all other websites spreading superstitions & they would start contradicting their own statements once again.

                                    Effects of a Rudraksha

There is no instrument to measure the percentage & time period of effects of a Rudraksha.

The gift of the great Lord Shiva “Rudraksha” is considered as very auspicious & powerful instrument that can help a human to reduce or overcome several of his problems & help him lead a life full of happiness, harmony & prosperity. Rudraksha is known for its positive effects & it has been worn by our sages, ancestors, Vedic scholars, celebrities & people of various caste, creed & sex over centuries for their well being. Rudraksha is known for overcoming various obstacles in various spheres of life & also known for having no adverse effects. Infact we believe one should be blessed with real good karmas to even wear the most common Rudraksha. Further, it is said that scientifically it has been proven that each & every Rudraksha due to its protrusive formation helps in maintaining blood pressure, mind stability & acts an acupressure instrument which messages your chest & ensures normal blood flow.

Well, now one important question arising in every human’s mind before wearing Rudraksha is
Q: Does it really effect? & how much time a Rudraksha takes to effect?
Ans: Since this is a very important question the vendor usually tries to play here & convinces the client of guaranteed effects within specified time period with the feeling that if he does not mention this, the client may not buy the Rudrakshas from him. However, this is not the case with us; our answer to this question of yours is below.

The percentage & the time period of effects are not mentioned in the Vedic texts. Please note restrictions are created, spread & written by private authors in their own books & are not a part of Vedic texts, further there is no instrument on this earth that could measure the percentage & time period of effects of Rudraksha & astro-gemstones. It’s only the wearer’s personal experience that can qualitatively but not quantitatively describe the same. The percentage & time period varies from person to person. Kindly beware of traders who claim the time period & percentage of effects of a Rudraksha bead at the time of sale as this may just be a stunt to push sales. We infact go to the extent saying that you may not buy from us but we shall not convince you by providing false information regarding percentage & time period of effects.
We believe you are spending money for one of natures most auspicious & rare spiritual product. So in short you are paying for the Rudraksha, if there are any effects it comes along free. Rudraksha is our product but the effects are not. It’s like a gemstone trader or jeweler sells a gemstone but not its effect, he wouldn’t know how much a specific stone quantitatively is going to affect a specific client.

Incase there are any effects, the effects of a Rudraksha berry doesn’t depend on it’s shape, size, color, origin.

The one & only constraint for a Rudraksha to work is that the Rudraksha & its mukhis / facets should be well formed & genuine without any human manipulation.
Most of the times one gets an original Rudraksha but the mukhis / facets are artificially created. This damages the physical properties of the Rudraksha & it would not be effective anymore.

The percentage & time may not be defined but it is believed that with one certainty you can wear a Rudraksha bead which is, it doesn’t have any negative / adverse or reverse effects on its wearer or possessor.

It is often claimed by many traders who sell only Nepalese Rudraksha beads that Nepalese Rudraksha are more effective than Indonesian Rudrakshas. This isn’t true; a good well formed Indonesian Rudraksha can be equally effective like a Nepalese Rudraksha. Traders dealing only in Nepalese beads also sell Rudraksha malas which are only of Indonesian origin as Rudraksha malas are not produced in Nepal; they have to be of the Indonesian origin. This is a fact that most of the people do not know. So we request you to ask such people only one question “why are you selling Indonesian malas?” they would have no answer.
Further, one of the most known traders & websites who claimed that Indonesian beads are not effective have also started selling Indonesian Rudrakshas now after realizing this fact. Kindly take note!!!!
To know more about the difference between Nepalese & Indonesian beads vist Nepalese Vs Indonesian Rudraksha.

As per our seniors or society one needs to be very precautious after wearing a Rudraksha berry to gain any positive effects out of it; this is nothing but being superstitious. You will be surprised to know that there are no restrictions mentioned in Vedic texts. One does not need to follow any precautions or be superstitious for it to work, one just needs to wear it with utmost faith, dedication, respect, care & love. To know more about the Rudraksha & its superstitious restrictions visit Do’s & Don’ts.

The only thing that should be believed is that Rudraksha should be worn after energization & with regular mantra chanting the effects or power of the Rudraksha bead may increase.

Anything produced by the almighty has a purpose & utility; nothing on the earth produced by him is useless, in fact its upto us to make proper utility of it, one needs to be blessed with real good karmas to even wear or know about the most common Rudraksha, clients believe that they are paying for they effects but we believe you are paying for a rare natural divine Rudraksha & the effects if any come free with it.
We believe in complete transparency, buying or not buying is always at the sole discretion of the buyer.

Procedure 2: Incase you do not wish to perform Rudra Abhsihek on your own & would like a priest to do it for you then kindly follow the below procedure
Kindly visit any Lord Shiva temple on a Monday or any auspicious day, offer the priest whatever dakshina (donation) you wish to offer & request him to perform the Rudra Abhishek for you. He shall ask for your name, then shall start energizing the Rudraksha by offering milk, water, flowers, incense (kindly carry the required pooja items like unboiled milk mix with pinch of sugar or honey and essence stick with you) & bless it with mantras in your name. Rudraksha Care & Maintenance

A Rudraksha bead appears to be very strong externally & can be passed on from generation to generation only if maintained properly, however no one could guess the age of a Rudraksha bead as it could even be a few days, months or years. Hence, one should also keep in mind that it is a natural product & subject to wear & tear if not handled & taken care off properly it can give way. One should avoid mishandling like throwing the bead / mala or playing with it as its contours might chip off or the bead might crack. Here are a few tips that would help to maintain the bead.

Ø Rudraksha beads being a natural product contain natural oil, which on drying reduces the life of the bead, hence one should see to it that the beads are regularly oiled & free from fungus & insects. One should avoid it during the bath, it is recommended to keep it away from soap, as excess soap, powder, perfumes spoils or might reduce the life of the bead by drying its natural oil by penetrating or sticking to it. One should ensure the Rudraksha are kept for complete drying as wet beads may attract fungus. One should avoid wearing it during the bath. The mala should be cleaned & oiled average once in 1 months as mentioned below.

Ø Clean your mala / beads when you feel they require cleaning after regular usage, since it starts fading and losing its lustre.
Ø Delicately use a fresh / new & unused plastic / fibre bristle brush / toothbrush to clean the dirt and grime that fixes in the pores of the beads. This can be kept as a dedicated brush only to clean auspicious Rudraksha beads & nothing else.
Ø Apply some oil on the beads by using a brush or one is free to completely immerse the bead / mala in oil and then keeping it on  a fresh paper so that excess oil drains out but make it sure the bead is not wet at all, before brushing or dipping it in oil, in other words it has to be dry. Strictly avoid using water for cleaning purpose.
Ø A mixture of sandalwood oil & olive oil is considered to be the best as it leaves a nice soothing fragrance as well as maintains the health of the Rudraksha. Oiling can be repeated whenever the beads seem dry. Kindly do not use ghee as it leaves a typical smell in the Rudraksha beads.
Ø Oiling at least once is one month is recommended or when it looks faded and dry, if possible more number of times would be still better. This would maintain lustre, shine, and life of the bead and the bead would look more healthier.
Ø However change in colour and shade is but natural being a natural product and the exact life of the same is not predictable.

                                                       Other Important Tips

Ø One should not interchange their Rudraksha bead / mala with anyone, one can pass it on as wishes or blessings to their near & dear ones but should not interchange regularly. This is because Rudraksha & you get use to each other & there has been acceptances by both……So kindly do not disturb the same.
Ø Rudraksha can be worn in any metal, be it gold / silver / copper / panchdhatu or thread. It has electrical and magnetic properties, which enhances when worn with metal.
Ø One can wear any combination of Rudraksha beads as it does not have any negative effects on its wearer or possessor. They are simply the most natural representations of Gods & goddesses & hence can’t have any reverse or negative effects.
Ø One can wear the mala of 54 or 108 beads or rather any number of beads with different mukhis as per their need/requirement.
Ø Anyone can wear Rudraksha, without any discrimination of caste, creed & sex as Rudraksha is made by the Lord for the benefits of mankind.
Ø Rudraksha should be kept well cleaned and oiled, at least once in two months.
Ø Rudraksha can be kept in house, office, factory, or any place of work or Pooja room (altar) to get positive energy flow in the same premises.
Ø Rudraksha should be energized in any Siva temple by performing ‘Abhishek’’ (on any day) before using it for the first time & it is said that it should be worn preferably on a Monday (since it is Lord Shiva’s day) for the first time & then continue wearing it. (For best effects of Rudraksha, energizing is necessary). To know about how to energize your Rudraksha visit Energization of Rudraksha.
Ø Rudraksha mantra should be chanted regularly for quick & excellent effects.
Ø Never loose faith in Rudraksha, it is said that it positively gives effects. However, nobody can precisely say when & how much will it effect. The percentage & time of effects is not defined & at the same time there is instrument that could measure the same. Kindly, beware of traders who claim the time period & percentage of effects of a Rudraksha bead at the time of selling as this may be just a marketing stunt to push sales. Ø Over & above this feel free to contact us regarding any doubts, information or suggestions on the Rudraksha bead, we would be glad to be of any help to you.

AUTHENTICITY OF RUDRAKSHA BEADS

The one question that comes to a persons mind before buying a Rudraksha is
“How does one check the authenticity of a Rudraksha?

Unlike most of the Rudraksha traders we do have an answer for this.
First of all let us bring to your knowledge that we are the proud traders of Rudraksha to find & disclose the closest authenticity test of Rudraksha beads.
This authenticity test founded by us shall bring about lot of awareness & help people in not getting cheated anymore.

Rudraksha Authenticity test.
--------------------------------
The number of seeds in internal of each non manipulated Rudraksha bead should be equal to the number of mukhis/ facets that it has on its external structure.” If the number of seeds is not equal to the number of mukhis then there are chances of external manipulation taken place on the outer surface of Rudraksha which further can be detected by an expert. There are certain exceptions to the test which are as follows
1)    In a few varieties of Rudrakshas the number of seeds is more than the number of mukhis for example, if one or more mukhis of a Rudraksha have not developed naturally, then the number of seeds in the internal of the Rudraksha will be more than the number of mukhis it has on its outer surface, one can assume that the mukhis have not developed naturally only if the analyst is certain that there is no external manipulation.
2)    The above test is sounder for Rudrakshas of Nepalese & Indonesian Origin.
3)    This is the closest test to find out the genuinety of a Rudraksha, this test also has some limitations. At times when the Rudrakshas are cut open we have noticed that the seeds are not well developed & hence appear like a very minute cavity or like a dot. Well, now every time to test a Rudraksha one wouldn’t want to cut open the bead & would rather prefer to get the x ray of the Rudraksha done, in such a case the seeds which are not well developed may not be well exposed in the x-ray or could be difficult for a lay person to interpret the x ray, further it may also be difficult to conclude on basis of a blur x-ray. This is the only close test that could prove the authenticity of a Rudraksha berry. If you wish to know how to check the genuinety of Rudrakshas

Most of the other common tests existing are misleading or incomplete.
Tests like 1) Floating in water test 2) milk changing colour test 3) Copper coin test
4) Boiling test.
All the above mentioned tests are incomplete & hence very misleading.

RudraBlessings takes deep effort to bring about the awareness of Rudraksha & protect Rudraksha lovers from getting misleaded.

1. Floating in water Test
a. A test like ‘Rudraksha that sinks in water is original and the Rudraksha that floats in water is a duplicate’ is just a myth.
A genuine Rudraksha could either float or sink in water depending upon the density or moisture trapped in the bead. A genuine Rudraksha that is not oiled, very dry & light in weight will float. Similarly, a bead that is heavy or oiled or kept in water for some time will sink because of the moisture in it; a recently plucked bead might sink because of moisture in it & at same bead if lying in your collection box for a couple of years might float due to its dryness. Further, the same dry bead if kept in water for a few hours or days shall absorb water & start sinking slowly.

b. When a bead is dipped in a glass of water, it will find its own buoyancy level from the bottom to the top of the glass depending upon the level of moisture in it. It is proved that any authentic bead could either float or sink just depending upon the dryness or moisture in that bead. It also happens so that a Rudraksha bead finds it buoyancy level in the centre of the glass.

c. At the same time a so called Rudraksha bead carved out of wood & filled with lead or an anonymous metal might sink in water which doesn’t mean that it is an original Rudraksha bead.

d. Even if some stand by the water test, one needs to just ask a simple question to them; the Rudraksha might be original but how does the water test prove the genuinety of the mukhi (facets) it has on it. The faces can be carved on a genuine heavy Rudraksha that sinks in water. After all, we are paying the price for an original Rudraksha bead with original (mukhis) facets.
Therefore, in either case, it cannot be proved whether the Rudraksha bead is an original or a fake one. It just proves whether it is a dry or a moist bead, nothing else.

2. Milk Test
It is often claimed by many cheats or ignorant vendors that a genuine Rudraksha when put in a jar of milk; changes the colour of the milk. Many a times what happens is that the Rudraksha beads are coated with mud by the farmers to protect it from insects. So once the Rudraksha coated with mud is put in milk it starts loosing its coating & brings about a change in the colour of the milk. This coating can be done even on a fake bead which will bring about the same change on the milk.
Further, even if some believe that there is some sense or logic it, this test again does not prove the authenticity of the mukhis / facets that the Rudraksha has on it. This is usually done to promote the sale of a fake Rudraksha.
3. Copper Coin Test*
There are many other criteria written to prove the authenticity of a Rudraksha bead like revolving between two coins & the milk changing colour after the bead is soaked in it for a night. But all these are not a correct criterion because a bead with magnetic field will rotate & if the bead is coloured with mud for protection it will loose its colour. Therefore, we should not bother about these suspicions and false notions.

Duplicate Rudrakshas are to be found in different places all over the world but easily found in places like Rishikesh & Haridwar in Uttaranchal, India & all over Nepal.
Moreover nowadays Rudraksha beads are not fake but the mukhis on them are fake.
A skillful artisan can increase the mukhis (facets) of a low priced Rudraksha bead by neatly giving extra cuts & converting it to a higher mukhi (facets) Rudraksha bead that will fetch him a higher price. Similarly, he could also hide or block a few mukhis (facets) on a low priced Rudraksha bead converting it to a lower Mukhi bead that would fetch him a higher price. Only an experienced eye can detect this.
These artisans also use superfine glue to attach or join two or three Lower priced beads together converting them to a highly priced Gaurishanker or an exorbitantly priced Trijudi Rudraksha. Nevertheless, these glued beads can be detected by dipping them completely in boiled (not boiling) water. There are chances that the glue would give in and loose strength and the two or three beads artificially attached may get separated from each other. But Nowadays due to the usage of superfine glue by the artisans there are chances that the beads may not get separated, So ultimately it is the experienced eye that can detect the same.

Many other trees that do not belong to the Elaeocarpacae Granitrus family bear fruits that look very similar to the Rudraksha bead. This could be very misleading, as a normal eye might not realize the difference immediately.

Ultimately, the only way to convince yourself or buy a Rudraksha bead is on trust. The Rudraksha should be brought from a genuine supplier who is accountable to the people. Buying Rudraksha is like buying Gems in which buyers buy from a trusted supplier only and thus buyers needs to consult other previous buyers for the genuine suppliers and their experience of dealing with them, before taking a decision to purchase these beads.

What is a Rudraksha?

Introduction
Since the dawn of time, man has used various spiritual and natural healing products to overcome various problems that he comes across in day to day life. According to our ancient Vedic texts out of all the spiritual symbols, Rudraksha holds a very special place in today’s materialistic and stressful world helping one in reducing their various day to day problems. It is accredited to possess mystical and divine properties. Rudrakshas are considered auspicious as well as powerful and are supposed to have intense astrological benefits according to modern astrologers.

Origin
‘Rudraksha’ has its origin from the Sanskrit words, ‘Rudra’ and ‘Aksha’. ‘Rudra’ is one of the 1008 names of Lord Shiva, and ‘Aksha’ means eye. As per the old mythological tale, the Rudraksha berry was born out of Lord Shiva’s (Rudra) eye drops (Aksha); hence the berry is called as Rudraksha. It is so far found that Rudraksha berry which is botanically know as “Elaeocarpus Granitrus Roxb.” are produced by “Utrasum” trees in pocketed Himalayan regions of Nepal, Indonesia, India & may be a few other countries. Ancient scriptures, such as ‘Shiva Purana’, ‘Padma Purana’ and ‘Srimad Bhagvatam’ mention the greatness and wonderful powers of the Rudrakshas. If you wish to know in detail how Rudraksha originated visit Birth of Rudraksha.

Rudraksha Anatomy

Further, let us know the great divine Rudraksha minutely

Bifurcation of the Rudraksha bead

1) Mukhis/ Faces: - Rudrakshas are classified on the basis of the number of mukhis or faces it has on its outer surface- “mukhis are the natural clefts or grooves or thread like lines running completely from the top to the bottom of the Rudraksha.” Each Rudraksha represents a lord according to Vedic texts and has a different corresponding effect, depending on the number of mukhis on it. For instance, if the bead has eight natural lines then it is a called as eight mukhi or eight faceted Rudraksha which represents Lord Ashtavinayaka (obstacle remover) & is worn by one who faces regular obstacles in life. If you wish to know about the variety of Rudrakshas visit Multifaceted Rudrakshas.

2) Shape: - All the Rudraksha from all origins are globular in shape, some are elliptically round in shape (2 & 3 mukhi), some are round in shape (4,5,6,7 & 8 mukhi) whereas some are oval in shape (curve like) (8 to 21 mukhi & above). There is only one Rudraksha which is half moon like (crescent shape) & that is1 mukhi from India.

3) Size: - The size of Rudraksha beads range between 4mm to 45 mm aprox
The Nepalese Rudrakshas are way bigger than the Indonesian Rudrakshas, the size range of Nepalese beads would be12 mm – 45mm approx & the average size of this origin would be 18mm approx, whereas the Indonesian beads are pretty smaller with the size range of 4mm to 30mm & with an average size of 12mm.
Sometimes Indonesian Rudraksha is also produced in bigger size (32 mm & above) & they are highly rare in nature.

4) Center hole: - Each and every Rudraksha bead has a natural hole in the center, at times the hole is completely developed, at the times the hole may have developed upto ¾ level of the bead, whereas in some cases the hole may have not developed at all but definitely there would be an indication of the hole being there, the hole not being developed is very common in the case of Rudraksha beads of very small sizes & of lower mukhis. 1mukhi (half moon shape) from India do not have a natural hole. Each & every Rudraksha bead is covered naturally with pulp all around it, on cleaning or pealing of the pulp we find the Rudraksha, the procedure of cleaning pealing doesn’t clean the natural hole, so before wearing usually the clearing of the hole is done manually. The natural hole enables us to string & wear the Rudrakshas around different parts of our body.

5) Body surface: - Each & every Rudraksha bead has mukhis / facets naturally formed on its outer surface. One would find that the outer surface of Nepalese Rudraksha beads have lot of uneven natural protrusions with very deep & well formed mukhis whereas the Indonesian Rudrakshas are slightly smoother & their mukhis are not deep & also resemble thread like lines, Indonesian Rudrakshas with deeper grooves are rare. We also find in nature a different variety of Rudraksha beads which are extremely smooth in nature & are called “Chikna” beads.

6) Number of seeds: - “The number of seeds in internal of each Rudraksha bead will be equal to the number of mukhis that it has on its external structure.” If the number of seeds is not equal to the number of mukhis then there are chances of external manipulation taken place on the outer surface of Rudraksha which further can be detected by an expert. This is the closest test to find out the genuinety of a Rudraksha, this test also has some limitations. At times when the Rudrakshas are cut open we have noticed that the seeds are not well developed & hence appear like a very minute cavity or like a dot. Well, now every time to test a Rudraksha one wouldn’t want to cut open the bead & would rather prefer to get the x ray of the Rudraksha done, in such a case the seeds which are not well developed may not be well exposed in the x-ray or could be difficult for a lay person to interpret the x ray. This is the only close test that could prove the authenticity of a Rudraksha berry. If you wish to know how to check the genuinety of Rudrakshas visit Authenticity of Rudraksha.

7) Effects: - Effects of the Rudraksha bead would vary from person to person depending upon the respect, faith the wearer has on it. It is said that regular respective mantra chanting on the bead also increases its effectiveness. Before wearing the bead for the first time one should perform Rudra Abhishek on the bead for best effects. Kindly beware of vendors who guarantee the percentage & time period of effects as this is just a marketing stunt. To know more visitEffects of Rudraksha.

Well, the above are the basic, common & at the same time most important characteristics of a Rudraksha berry. There may be slight difference in their external appearance of Rudrakshas produced in different countries due to difference in soil, climate & farming conditions, the difference between Rudrakshas of different countries is put down by us for your convenience in the section Nepalese Rudraksha Vs Indonesian Rudraksha.

As per the vedic texts Rudraksha beads are produced from 1 to 38 mukhis (facets) but Rudrakshas above 21 mukhis are extremely rare to find & the description of above 21 mukhi are not mentioned anywhere. RudraBlessings with the blessings of Lord Shiva has a collection of authentic 1 mukhi Rudraksha to 31 mukhi Rudraksha which we doubt anyone else would have. To view this authentic rarest collection visit Rarest of Rare Rudrakshas.

As per science
As per science, Rudraksha due to its chemical composition & protrusive body has an acupressure effect which is positive on the human body as it relieves a person from problems of blood pressure, stress, anxiety, depression, nervousness, lack of concentration and various other troubles. The effect of this berry varies from an individual to another, mainly depending on the faith & respect they carry in the bead.

Evolution of Rudraksha

Legend 1
“Shiva Purana”
As per Shiva Purana, Rudraksha is considered to be formed out of the eye drops of Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva was once meditating for number of years for the welfare of all humans with his eyes half open, thereafter completing his meditation he happened to blink his eyes & hot drops of water from his eyes fell on mother earth & give rise to the great Rudraksha trees. Thus the word Rudraksha is derived from the Sanskrit words “Rudra” one of the 1008 names of Lord Shiva & “Aksha” which means eyes. Hence being formed out of the eyes of Lord Shiva it is called Rudraksha.

Rudraksha which was further botanically known as “Elaeocarpus Granitrus Roxb.” is produced by “Utrasum” tree in pocketed Himalayan regions of Nepal, Indonesia, India & few other countries. Rudraksha from Nepal in terms of commercial quality is considered to be the best, there after followed by Rudrakshas from Indonesia & then from India. When we speak of commercial quality we speak of size, appearance, formation, range of mukhis & natural development of the Rudraksha. However the major Rudraksha producing country is Indonesia.

Legend 2
”Srimad Devi Bhagvatam”
“There is one more legend behind the birth of Rudraksha which says that Lord Shiva was once meditating for number of years on request of Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu & other gods & goddesses to overcome or destroy a demon named Tripura Sur who was a threat to the universe. Demon Tripura had bought about lot of destruction with his powers creating a lot of unrest in the universe. After meditating for number of years to destroy the demon the consequences post the destruction of demon bought tears in eyes of lord Shiva which fell on mother earth & gave birth to the Rudraksha tree.”

Both the above legends have the same conclusion which would be that “The Rudraksha tree” is an outcome for the benefit of universe & mankind by the great Lord Shiva.

 EXCERPTS FROM THE VEDIC TEXTS

Rudraksha beads, the holy beads scientifically called as Elaeocarpus Ganitrus. Rudraksha comes from Sanskrit word and literally stands for the "eyes of Lord Shiva" (means Rudra = Shiva, “Aksham” = tear of eye).

Lord Shiva is an important deity of Vedic age (125000yrs B.P.) and is depicted wearing rosary of Rudraksha beads in the icon of different historical era. • Narad Muni: - Narayan (God Vishnu), I know the greatness of Rudraksha beads that you have said but may I know how Rudraksha came to this earth and honored?
  • Narayan said: - O Child! This is the very question that was asked once by Kartikeya, the six faced son of Rudra dwelling in Kailash. What Rudra replied, I say now listen:-
  • RudraDeva spoke: O child Kartikeya,I will dwell briefly on the secret cause of the greatness of Rudraksha beads. In days of the year there was a devil called Tripura who could not be conquered by anybody. Brahma, Vishnu and Other Devas request I contemplated the divine Great weapon named Aghora, beautiful, terrible and containing the strength of all the Devas to kill him. It was inconceivable and it was blazing with fire.
In the process, for full divine one thousand years I remained awake with eyelids wide open thinking of Aghora weapon, the destroyer of all obstacles whereby the killing of Tripura might effect and the troubles of the devas be removed. There by my eyes were affected and the drops of tear came out of eyes.
O Son Kartikeya from those drops of tear coming out of my eyes, the great tree of Rudraksha did spring for the welfare of all Devas and mankind. This Rudraksha beads are of Twenty-Eight varieties. From my Surya Netra (my right eye) symbolizing the sun twelve varieties have come and my left eye representing the moon (the soma netra) sixteen varieties.

This beautiful sacred conch is found in various parts of the Arabian Sea but more often towards the south & hence it got its name from the south of India. Out of the millions of conch produced by nature only a few around 7-10 pieces on average open towards the right & the remaining millions open towards the left hence they are known as right handed conch (Valampuri). So this shankha has its name because it’s produced towards the southern of India (dakshinawarthy) & open towards the right (Valampuri).

The Great Dakshinawarthy Valampuri Shankha

The great Dakshinawarthy valampuri Shankha being extremely rare in nature, highly sacred, being highly sought after hence being priceless encourages lot of manipulation & production of fake conches.
There are total six varieties of the species Sinistral Turbinella pyrum (Dakshinawarthy valampuri). There is little difference in their appearance but not their characteristics, so kindly do net get confused or doubtful if you come across slight variations in two different conches of the same species but different varieties.
It has been very very difficult to test the authenticity of a dakshinawarthy valampuri shankha, even the dealers in south of India & some known websites get cheated or intentionally cheat because they sell & buy on faith or do not want to disclose the methods of testing directly to clients. Above that they still practice the traditional methods of checking the authenticity which is not full proof & are unaware of the scientific methods of testing. We at RudraBlessings do not keep any secrets in regards to authenticity & also have taken forward the task to educate & satisfy our clients, so we hereby share the testing methods with our clients rather than providing a “so called authenticity certificate”, incase you do not wish to buy from us this will help you reduce your chances of getting cheated. Dakshinawarthy Valampuri shankh requirements
The nature produces this rare auspicious product in one piece (free of artificial joints); hence it needs to satisfy the following requirements to be called as a genuine “dakhshinawarthy valampuri shankha” or a “Sinistral Turbinella Pyrum”.

1)    It should be one piece in nature free of artificial joints & cracks.
2)    The most important characteristic of a “dakshinawarty valampuri” is that it should be a product of south India ranging from south west to south east, opening towards the right & should have 2-7 natural continuous spiral ridges (pilae) running right from the opening of the conch to the internal top “head” of the conch.
3)    It should belong to the “Sinistral Turbinella Pyrum” species which can be confirmed only by an expert.
4)    Finally, for safety & reconfirmation it can be shown to a known expert of the same.
1) As mentioned above the authenticity of the most important characteristics of valampuri shankha is most important. The most important characteristic being it should be free of any artificial joints, should be opening towards the right hand side, with 2 or more pilae running right from the opening to the top "head" of the sacred conch; all these requirements shall be fulfilled with the help of high resolution X- radiography. X-radiography shall detect any artificially joints, cracks & would clearly show the formation of pilae (continuous spiral ridges).
In case of the valampuri being artificially joined, the X- ray would show that it is artificially joined or the pilae wouldn't be visible in the internal part of the conch.
P.S. There is in no way that the pilae can be formed artificially right from the opening to the internal top of the conch. If they pilae are artificially created then they would only be visible externally & wouldn’t show internally in the x ray. If they pilae are original & continuous but the conch is joint it would mean that it is an attempt to sell a left hand conch which is converted into right hand with the help of skilled artisans.

Any radiologists can also help you to check the above requirements if you cannot interpret an x ray.

Avoid confusions
The variation noticed in the six different varieties of “Sinistral Turbinella Pyrum” or “Dakshinawarthy Valampuri Shankh” are usually in terms of
         a) Body texture (smooth, semi smooth & with contours)
         b) Pilae (these might vary in number from 2 to 7)
         c) Shape (round, elliptical & top like)
         d) colour (this is a characteristic that depends majorly on the water content & the absorption of same by the sacred conch, the appear in varied colors, in combination of colors & with natural colored spots too..)
so kindly do not get confused or doubt its originality if there is minor difference in the two varieties. To know more about the characteristics of valampuri shankha please view Valampuri anatomy (in related articles section n right hand side of the main page)
         e) this is major characteristic which sellers encourage but it doesn’t make any sense i.e they often say that the opening of the conch should be very wide, narrow openings are suspicious, well there can be a difference in the variety of the conch hence there can be slight variation in the opening as well.

We hereby provide you with image & x ray of an original conch as well as an artificial one.

Valampuri Shankha

Dear readers and potential clients, the article may be a little long but if you read this you could almost call yourself an expert on valampuri shankhs, there are lot of facts, proofs and unanswered questions that are cleared here.

What is a Dakshinavarty valampuri shankh ?
It is very important to know everything about the product you wish to buy, so before buying a dakshinavrty valampuri shankh, you should know the types, importance & authenticity of the same.
As per Indians the word "Dakshinavarty" means "south", "VALAM" means "RIGHT" "PURI" means "HANDED"; so the entire word means the right handed shell coming from the south of India. To elaborate if you see images of Lord vishnu he carried a shell which opens towards the right in his hand.
It’s a phenomena of nature that most shells produced usually open towards the left, it is 1 in a million a shell opens towards the right and hence it is rare, it’s like there would be one white tiger in a few hundreds of regular skin colored tigers.
Further there are two to nine raised lines which appear from the opening of the shell and coils up to the internal body right up to the head of the shell; these lines are called pillae in technical language. So to summarize a Valampuri  Shankh is the one which opens to the right with two to nine pillae that appears from the opening and coils up right to the head of the shell. There could be many shells that opens to the right but do not have any pillae, they are not rare. The one’s without any pillae are of not much significance / Mythological Significance

Geographic location & associations
The term dakshinavarty valampuri shankh is a term used by south indians in their local language, they are referring to the shell that opens towards the right side from the seas of South India. Now this is where a lot of secrets and answers to many questions are hidden. If we go back 100s and 1000s of years in the era of Lord rama, Lord krishna and other prior incarnations of Lord Vishnu, at that time the sea to the south of india would be infinite stretching from probably today what we call goa on south west to chennai, vizag on south east to kerela & rameshwaram in south, now it just doesn’t stop here the sea to the south of india would go infinitely to Srilanka, Indonesia, Singapore, Andaman, Lakshwadweep, Mauritius, Maldives and probably beyond. We are talking about an era where these countries wouldn’t have been in existence and it was simply called as south (dakshin) (know by a direction or their dynasties but not by name of a country). So here is my question why are traders of south india simply restricting the right handed shankh in hands of lord vishnu to the shankh that comes out simply only in their region in India. Is it mentioned in the shastras that this shell would only come from seas of Chennai, Kerela, or any south india region itself?, these countries beyond india in the south itself might have got their names in the recent years, most of them would be dynasties or tribal lands.

In shastras it is simply mentioned that the shell in hands of lord vishnu is right hand that opens to the right and has some pillae running from the opening to the head of the shell. Now this could be produced anywhere in the seas in different pockets. Further there may have been lot of changes geographically due to earthquakes, tsunamis, storms, tidal waves or cyclones and due to that evolutions in form of size, colour, and pattern of the shells with geographical location have changed in so many years. The only motive of South Indian Conch traders is to prove that the shankh which they procure and offer are valampuri shankh and further claim that shankh brought from south Indian traders are genuine and shankh offer from India or any other country are non genuine. As if they want to say that they themselves are going under the sea and taking the shell out which is unbelievable. We do not claim  that south Indian seller are selling non genuine shells, we are only saying that shells can come from different areas geographically not necessary only south india, due to high demand prices remains high since the availability is limited in these areas, now if we slightly go beyond this areas, where the commercial value of the shell is not that high in comparison to that of so called south india, we get a chance to possess this equally rare and valuable  shell which is one of the accessories of The great lord vishnu

Price & analogy
The shell coming from south of india is priced at around a whopping 10000/ per gram to 15000/per gram, yes 5 times the price of gold, making the shell price more than 7.5 lakhs indian rupees even if its small piece of 50 grams in weight. sizes smaller than that are sold per piece on not by weight, but would cost above 7.5 lakhs

This is only because end users have not applied logic and strictly restricted to the shell produced by mother nature in limited locations of south india leading to phenomenal rise in its prices, as we go beyond this small area of sea we see the shells opening towards the right produced very scarcely as well but not priced that high. We have restricted the presence of lord vishnu only to the south of india which is not logical, as even today there are more 1000 year old temples in Indonesia, thailand, we have seen remains of buddhist temples in iraq which then was called as audrapur. the division of countries or it getting its new names has not been a very old process and not very ancient and thus a person needs to realise this. Rudrakshas produced in Nepal are most expensive but that doesn’t mean rudrakshas produced in Indonesia, india or the usa are not rudrakshas, the commercial value may be less but no one can challenge its auspiciousness as it belongs to the same Lord Shiva.

Some analogy to give you an insight on what we trying to say
The Siberian tiger has fur and the indian tiger doesn’t, it doesn’t mean either of them are not tigers, due to location at times there are variations dues to adaptability.
Basmati rice is considered to be the best in india, that doesn’t mean other varieties of rice are not rice, yes there would be a difference in quality and hence its price but ultimately rice is rice.
The shankh noticed in hands of Lord vishnu opens towards the right and has visible spirals from the opening coiling right upto the conch head, but is nowhere written on the conch shell that is produced only in Chennai or Rameshwaram.
As the price keeps going higher the human psychology gets more attracted to it. Having said that i don't run away from the fact that low price items are always genuine. this takes our explanation of the (click here) authenticity of the shell.
We do not have any arguments with our competitors. They are free to contradict the same but we like to remain on our own thoughts.
Hereby we have taken an effort to offer you the great right handed shell produced in different regions at a very lower price with equivalent auspiciousness. Each and every shell comes with an X ray, showing that its one piece and not artificially joined. Also it shows the pillae (lines which appear from the opening of the shell and coils up to the internal body right up to the head of the shell)
